Melvyn Dronsfield established the company in 1968. Initially, our business revolved around the trade of vans and commercial vehicles. However, we later made the strategic decision to focus exclusively on Mercedes Benz vehicles and their parts. Much has changed since our inception. We now have a workforce of over 50 highly skilled individuals operating across various departments. These include our advanced dismantling yard and the bustling sales office, overseen by Ian, the youngest of the Dronsfield siblings.
Our Manchester-based dismantling yard handles a significant turnover of vehicles, allowing us to offer a wide selection of spare parts for various Mercedes models. My local mercedes specialist said these are the best of a bad bunch! OMG how bad the rest must be! I had an E class 2.1 diesel. The engine had catastrophic failure thanks to timing tensioner. So i got an engine from Dronsfields. The 1st they sent had suffered a big front impact, and the garage refused to fit. The 2nd engine they sent, looked like it had been submerged in water for a while, and was seized solid. The 3rd wasn't quite the same engine, but was acceptable. Engine mounts needed changing and a few other bits. After it was fitted, it was obvious the timing chain needed replacing. My garage refused to do any more. I had to take it over an hour away to get it done under 3 month engine warranty. I have still not had a receipt for this engine! Only the 1st one. Obviously the 3rd engine has different engine number. So on the log book, the engine number is wrong, because i don't have those details. And yes i asked Dronsfields for this.... no reply!!!!!!! If you need an engine, my advice is don't. Just scrap it ! And under no circumstances trust these people at Dronsfields !!!!!!!!! If i could, I'd give them ZERO stars.... actually I'd give them less than that!!!

In July 2023 I paid £1,600 for a gearbox that I was told had only done 60,000 miles. 6 months later in January 2024, my vehicle broke down & Mercedes informed me that I needed another new gearbox. I informed Dronsfields, but they told me the warranty only lasts for 3 months & there is nothing they can do. I sent another email but I got no reply. They sold me a faulty vehicle part and their customer service is very poor.

Contacted Dronsfields to repair a leaky roof on my SLK. They did a water check and told me I had a leaky roof (which I was already aware of and which is the reason I booked it in). They then advised that they didn’t have the tools to repair it and I need to book it in to a Mercedes bodyshop. Still charged me £78 to tell me something I already knew with no resolution!!

Our car was collected on the 29th August as Dronsfields said they had a gearbox for our car. It turned out the gearbox didn't fit our car, so they tried another gearbox, which was damaged I believe. We are so disappointed to say they still have our car and still can't find a gearbox. Apparently ours is rare? We can't bring the car back as it doesn't drive, and we paid to have it collected.... The people on the phone have been very nice, but had we known the car would still be there after 2 months, we wouldn't have started the process. Just very disappointed 😞

Ordered a part on breakerlink (an ignition for my manual van) They quoted saying that had the part, I bought it and delivery was quick but the ignition was for a automatic van, due to this it deactivated my abs system and caused error codes. I own a E220 2014 mercedes which recently had an mot at a differrnt garage .It passed but an advisory that the lower control arm bushes were worn. The garage gave me a quote, which seemed expensive. Absolute joke. Reply: Yes to add Insult to injury you charged me when I got there for parts that wasn't ready when I got there. Then the inner tie rod of the steering rack you sold me was bent . Pretty much a false economy using these. In an effort to save some money during this current cost of living crisis when my cooling fan stopped working I contaced these for a 2nd hand replacement - £40 - as a new one suppiled and fitted from Mercedes would have cost me £235 ish. Brilliant, I thought. Collected fan (30 miles from home) and gave to my trusted mechanics to fit. After fitting the (supposedly tested) fan it was found to be faulty, wouldn't stop running at full pelt. Total time for mechanics so far - 2 hours, one fitting and one testing the faulty fan to establish it was indeed faulty. Contacted the parts dept 'oh yes, that sounds faulty, bring it back and we'll change it.' 'OK but it IS currently fitted to the car' 'No problem' says James Smith ' come up and we'll change it.' Expecting them to quickly swap the fan unit over there it turns out I was VERY wrong. What James meant was 'we'll give you another fan and you can get your mechanics to fit it again at your expense.' As you can imagine, I was not massivley pleased as the job had alrerady cost me an extra £70 an hour mecanhics fees so asked James if the replacement fan had been tested. Turns out 'Tested' actually means 'was briefly looked at via an OBD report when the donor car came it before it was stacked and possibly left for upto 10 years' but James couldn't bring himself to say that in reception in front of other staff and customers, no, he went off on a long list of other things it might be, THEN asked what diagnostic my mechanics were using and basically poo-poo'd anything diagnostic that wasn't Mercedes, but then told me how he'd test it ('just plug it into the loom, let it dangle and turn the car on,look for warning lights.' Is that the MERC STAR diagnostics in action?) A bit rich given that the Mercedes system failed to diagnose the 1st fan as faulty, meaning that I ended up spending £210 for 3 hours mechanicing (1 fitting, 1 diagnosing, 1 fitting working fan) plus £40 for the fan and an extra 60 miles travel, totting up to north of £250. As you've worked out, that's more than a brand new one supplied and fitted by Merc which would have left me far more comfortable as that would have much much more warranty on it plus I wouldn't have had to email or talk to one of the most condescending and patronising people I have ever had the mispleasure to deal with. No-point taking it above him as his 'line manager' Angela Dronsfield (who DID see the emails - ain't outlook good like that with delivered/read reports) has chosen to ignore the whole 'has it been tested' issue. A paltry offer of 'some discount next time' didn't get me out of the financial hole that Dronsfields put me in. I'd suggest you avoid Dronsfields at least until they've updated their parts testing procedure to include ACTUAL testing rather than the obviously flawed STAR OBD system that allows them to inventory faulty parts, or until the parts dept has better trained staff who no-longer coast along and blame everyone and everything else when there's a problem. You'd do as well to give any old back-street breaker a try, it'd be just as trustworthy Only giving one star as cannot give LESS!

Ordered an item online. After waiting for weeks, i contacted them, and they said it would be sent out that day, as the first item was damaged. Item arrived, wrong item. I called them, they apologised, and said they would send another and collect incorrect one. More time passed, and nothing. I called again, more apologies, and that they would send the correct item. Weeks later, still nothing. Started a claim through PayPal, that's when they started the "i ordered the wrong part". Even after i have posted a copy of their invoice showing that i have not, they are still trying to maintain i have. They are expecting me to pay for the return postage, on an item that they incorrectly sent. Claim has now been escalated, and i have notified Amex to cancel the payment.

Twice when we have been let down by our local Mercedes dealer, who were unable to obtain parts to repair 2 different vehicles, Dronsfield have been able to save our bacon and provide the parts we needed. They will now be our go to supplier, for spares, for all 5 of our Mercedes vehicles. All the staff are very helpful and the service we have received has been 1st rate and very quick. I can't recommend them enough

I ordered a middle seat belt stub what the belt clicks into,everything was straight forward from beginning to end. When it arrived it was the wrong item the actual seat belt arrived so I had to pay to send it back but when I phoned them to say the item was sent but when it was checked it was my own fault I had put the wrong item in the order but they were great in fact they couldn't do enough for me to make sure the right item was sent so I would definitely use them again and I would highly recommend if you're looking for car parts this is the place to look,the prices are good also.

The worst customer services I have ever seen.Once you go,they make you wait hours and hours.So shameful even they don’t care you are here.not once it happens always to everyone.I will not recommend them at all.but still if you interested just bear in mind take your lunch and dinner with you coz they no let you leave them for next hours.👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

dissaponting parts department 1st call phone got picked up and put down, next call asked if they had a Mercedes alloy wheel, salesmen said I need a reg to work from, rang back 30min later with reg, salesman said I can't work from a reg,? I offered to email a photo of alloy, he declined and said he will get the other salesman to call me back..a day later nothing..prob better trying eBay rather than these clowns

Edit: You claim it is correct but not are incorrect. Your website stated it was 3.67 ratio but after physically testing it it was 3.46. So it was not correct for my car I unfortunately have to write this review. Dronsfield sold me a differential which was described wrong on their website causing me a lot of trouble and money. I did try to contact them to resolve the issue directly but they have ignored me and my complaint. Not a company I would like to deal with again.

Called on Tues 26th April for part enquiry. Told they had a new part in stock for £425+ vat, confirmed on phone £510 including vat. Called Wed 27th April to order part, spoke to someone else, price had increased to £495+ vat (£594) As a garage who had quoted a customer how do I now tell the customer the price has increased by £84 in a day? Not good enough

AVOID AVOID AVOID- worst service I’ve ever received was told over the phone item was not damaged and hadn’t been previously repaired, recieved the item and it has a awful filler repair job and has creases and dents from the previous damage AWFUL. When it came to returning company told me I have to return out of my pocket. THIEVES is the best word to describe them. They’ll reply and say all pictures were shown before buying but as you can see by their other reviews, it’s not their first time doing this!

Ordered and paid for two large items from this company, I asked for them to be wrapped well as they were being collected by courier. Items arrived badly damaged and of absolutely no use to me, the packaging was extremely poor and provided no protection for the parts. When I rang Dronfields they had no interest in speaking to me at all, they told me speak to the courier. I am very disappointed With the attitude of this company, and shocked that a company of this reputation are unable to wrap items correctly.

Very bad experience thanks to these guys! Had an A class gearbox issues and ordered a replacement gearbox. All vehicle information was given at point of purchase and I made paid promptly for the gearbox. I then paid to have the gearbox fitted to find it didn’t quite work properly. Reported this to dronsfields who recommended getting a report from a main Mercedes-Benz garage to diagnose. At this point I was in at over £2000 to be told that gearbox supplied was the incorrect gearbox for the year of the car. I reported this to dronsfields who advised they would collect the car and do their own diagnoses. I waited over 2 months for this to happen and no response or communication from anyone. In the end I was told the car couldn’t be collected due to it being locked in gear (to be expected on an automatic transmission with a failed/incorrect gearbox). Dronsfields have offered not resolution and this has been going on for 5 months. Car was originally used daily by a key worker who supports elderly people within the community. This was highlighted to Dronsfields so was very much needed back on the road asap. As it stands today, I am still over £2500 out of pocket and still have a car with an incorrect gearbox so no closer to the vehicle being back on the road.

Overall very poor experience and ultimately poor customer service. Wouldn't recommend. Bought some shock absorbers, which didn't arrive on the Monday as promised and sent another set by the Wednesday, as car was due in the garage and had them fitted Wednesday afternoon by next morning they were leaking and defective. Called to explain as I had paid a labour charge to have them fitted and expected to last at least 24 hours. Was told a manager would call and they didn't. Called to speak to them and customer service was shocking, they said nothing they could do and wouldn't even agree to cover return postage let alone the large sum of money i paid to have them fitted although they came with a '3 month warrenty' although I could return them at my own cost. Would never use again! Reasonable customer service and resolution wouldnt go amiss.

Worse service that I ever had in my life , I didnt even wanted to give them 1 star because they are that bad. I rang in morning and they said they are busy, so they will call me when someone becomes availble after waiting for few hours i rang them my self in the evening and asked for part part to which they said it is available and if you make a payment now you can pick it up tomorrow, so long story short I went next morning for the part, they made me wait for 2 hours and after that they said sorry we don't have this item in stock. Can you imagine the level of service they are giving to their customer. Absolutely disgraceful. I wasted my fuel and 4 hours of my life.

I waited over two weeks for an item which never turned up, I had to cancel my holiday due to the seller claiming the item had been dispatched and it never turned up. My delivery address is an office which is open till late at night yet apparently DPD could not find it. I have had hundreds of deliveries over the years that have never had a problem yet this item supposedly had issues. After many messages they finally refunded my money claiming we had missed delivery. I will never use them again. I ordered the same part from another dealer and it was here within 24 hours. Worst service I have had from a supposed reputable dealer.

Unless you believe as they do that all used vehicle parts will be damaged when you buy them second hand then I strongly advise you shop elsewhere. Absolutely shocking service if you are in the market to sell used papers you should have the decency to state that they are dented, twisted and in need of repair before they can be fitted then your customers would have the option to go elsewhere instead of wasting time dealing with cowboys like you. You may be a large company and one bad review will not make the slightest difference to you but it may warn other buyers who expect a part they supplied not to be damaged. The answer of buy a new one then from your staff is unprofessional and immature. I will not be using you again and will ensure I make the recommendations that you deserve

Bought an item over the phone, made the payment and was told it will be ready for pick up at any time tomorrow. I travelled 30 miles to get to their place finally when I git their I was told to wait in reception area and someone will come speak to me after waiting for 2 hours I went to reception desk asked why it is taking so long and the guy behind the desk told me we are taking off the part now . Long story short after another hour pass by still no one came back to me I went up yo reception again and they said part is not available so we will refund you. So after wasting 4 hours of my life I came out with my refund.

Not great. Sent out wrong part and when I phoned to let them know they insisted they had the right part and that it would be sent through the next day. Four days later it still hadn't been sent out and when I complained it turned out they hadn't checked and it turned out they didn't have the correct part after all. So my car ended up on my mechanic's ramp inconveniencing him for a week. Didn't call back on multiple occasions when they said they would so all round not a good experience. Best thing I can say is that I got the refund for the part they didn't supply quite quickly.

Slow delivery, 6 days to arrive. Orders state next working day. Doesn't get sent until 3/4 days after paying. Poor service when adverting next day delivery!
