The First MPV

When the Scenic was initially released in 1996 it became the first car in Europe to be officially labeled as an MPV. Shortly after its launch it was named the European Car of the Year. The Scenic exceeded all expectations, with the 2500 per day production limit far surpassing Renaults estimate of 450 per day. The original Scenic was based on the Megane platform, which itself was based on the older Renault 19 platform.

Scenic Grows Up

As part of the Scenic range Renault offer a Grand Scenic, which offers 7 seats instead of the standard Scenic’s 5 seats. The 7 seater proved a popular option for families, and cemented the Scenic’s position as an excellent all rounder. Renault UK have issued two recalls on the Scenic, one for a faulty dash, and another for a fault that could lead to the handbrake engaging whilst driving.
