First Class Primera
The name of the Primera literally translates to ‘First Class’ or ‘Finest’ in Spanish. When it was introduced in 1990 it replaced the Bluebird. The Primera was designed and marketed with the European market in mind. It was also the first Nissan to utilise FWD attached to their multi-link suspension. It was also sold under Nissan’s luxury brand, Infiniti, in some parts of the world.
The Primera’s Goodbye
The Primera’s production ran until 2008, although falling sales meant it was withdrawn from the UK in 2006. Until then it was assembled at Nissan’s Sunderland plant in the UK. The third generation model was also the first vehicle produced after Nissan has entered into an alliance with Renault. This saw much more radical styling than previous versions.
