Initial production of the Almera was between 1995 and 2006. Since 2011 the badge has been brought back to life in Thailand, Malaysia and Australia as an eco-car. Whether in time this will also make its way to the UK’s shores is yet to be seen. A different Almera has also been sold in Russia since 2012. Originally based on the Pulsar platform, the Almera was popular in the UK.
A Hard Act To Follow
When the first Almera rolled off the production line in 1995 it was to replace the Nissan Sunny. The Sunny badge had been in use for more than 3 decades. Despite being available as both a saloon and hatchback, nearly all UK models sold were hatchbacks, as opposed to Ireland where the saloon is much more common.
