Another Chance

Apart from low volume specials produced by Rover, the MG badge hadn’t been used on its own model since 1980. But in 1995 that all changed when the MGF was released. After its release it dominated the sales charts for affordable sports cars, and stayed there until the release of the MG TF in 2002. One unique feature of the MGF was its Hydragas suspension, which proved very successful in providing excellent ride quality and good performance.

A Historical Motorsport Nod

Shortly after the MGF was released the team started work on a variant if it simply known as the F. The model was a nod to the cars they produced in the 1930s, 40s, and 50s, which set new land speed records. It was a single seater producing 329bhp from its 1.4L engine. During 1997 it achieved 217 mph on the Bonneville Salt Flats.
