As the name suggests, the role of the fuel pump is draw fuel from the fuel tank and pump it through to your engine. Without fuel, your engine cannot run leaving you without wheels – bad news!
Loss of power, vehicle not starting or strange noises near the fuel tank are all common symptoms of fuel pump failure. Of course the problem may not actually be the fuel pump. An empty fuel tank due to a faulty fuel gauge, contaminated fuel lines or fuel pump relay failure is often the cause of the problem .
If you have checked all these potential factors and your fuel delivery is still not functioning as it should then it is most likely the fuel pump will need replacing.
